More Than Ready filly tops Inglis Classic session

Last updated: 4/28/08 8:20 PM

The cross of More Than Ready over Danehill-line mares has thus far produced Group 1

winners Sebring and Benicio, and a filly bred on the same cross took a starring

role on the second day of the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale on Monday. The filly

out of the Flying Spur mare Charmeuse and offered by Anne Raymond's Sledmere

Stud was knocked down to Glentrees Pty Ltd for A$160,000. The chestnut is from the family of dual Group 1 winner A Little Kiss.

Although seven yearlings fetched A$100,000 or more, the average of A$29,190 for

153 sold Monday fell from A$42,220 for the same session last year, when the sale

was held in early February. The RNA rate climbed to 23.1 percent.

"The sale has maintained a consistent pace with good competition on those

yearlings warranting the better money," William Inglis Bloodstock Director

Jonathan D'Arcy said. "It was pleasing to see seven horses top the $100,000

mark, while other buyers have secured excellent value for money over the first

two days--as people have come to expect at Classic. The progeny of first-season

sires were particularly well received."

Graduates of the sale are eligible to compete in the newly introduced

A$2.5-million Inglis Race Series. The sale concludes Tuesday.
