Motivator to stand at the Royal Studs

Last updated: 9/14/05 8:36 PM

The Royal Ascot Racing Club's MOTIVATOR (Montjeu [Ire]) will enter stud next

year at Her Majesty The Queen's Royal Studs at Sandringham near Norfolk,

England. Plans call for the Epsom Derby (Eng-G1) hero to be syndicated.

The three-year-old, a close second in both the Coral-Eclipse S. (Eng-G1) and

the Irish Champion S. (Ire-G1), is scheduled to make two more career starts in

the the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe (Fr-G1) on October 2 at Longchamp and the

October 29 Breeders' Cup Turf (G1) at Belmont before retiring.

"We are delighted that this outstanding son of Montjeu will be standing at

stud in England," said John Warren, The Queen's bloodstock advisor. "Her Majesty

is thrilled to have such a special horse, who was an unbeaten Group 1-winning

two-year-old, coming to Sandringham, where the champions Shirley Heights and

Bustino have stood before."

Motivator was unbeaten in two starts as a juvenile in 2004, including the

Racing Post Trophy S. (Eng-G1) at Doncaster.

"It's incredibly exciting it has all come together, and Her Majesty is over

the moon," Royal Ascot Racing Club's Racing Manager Harry Herbert told PA

Sport Wednesday. "It is great news for British breeders, and also for European

breeders in general, that a horse of this caliber is going to stand in this

country. It has not happened for a long time. John Warren is working on the

syndication and is speaking to a number of people about shares in the horse. He

will no doubt issue details when the sale has been completed."
