A solid field of 11 will go postward in the $100,000 My Charmer H. (G3) over

the Calder turf on Saturday. We're not confident in any horse in this

nine-furlong contest, so we'll look for some value on the win end.

BAYOU'S LASSIE (Outflanker) has amassed a 5-4-1-0 mark over this turf course,

with her lone defeat coming in a second-place finish in this race last year. The

dark bay could peak in her third start off the lengthy layoff for Christophe

Clement, and it's likely that she'll be in the lead early on a surface that

tends to treat front runners very kindly. Elvis Trujillo will be aboard the

four-year-old, who rates a big chance at taking this field all the way on the

front end.

FANTASTIC SHIRL (Fantastic Light) has been incredibly consistent and has

given a good account of herself in New York this summer, including a tally in the

De La Rose S. three prior. The Kiaran McLaughlin trainee was a closing second in

the Noble Damsel H. (G3) two back and fourth behind a tepid pace in the Athenia

H. (G3) most recently, but could be quite dangerous with some pace to run at.

Cornelio Velasquez has the assignment.

J'RAY (Distant View) has been first and second in two starts over this sod

and is a logical contender in this spot for Todd Pletcher. The New York-bred was

last seen finishing fourth over soft going in a state-bred stakes event, closing

from well back to miss by fewer than two lengths. The late-running

four-year-old is drawn in the far outside post and will need a healthy early

tempo to run at, so we'll keep her inclusion on the bottom rungs of the gimmicks

under Manoel Cruz.

REDASPEN (Bianconi) has steadily improved in 2007 and could be dangerous at a

square price for trainer Rebecca Baker. The chestnut mare has earned substantial

113 and 114 BRIS Late Pace numbers in her last pair, and her second in the

Eatontown S. (G3) versus a superb field stands out. Freshened since a win in the

Mrs. Penny S. in July, the five-year-old has won or placed in eight of 10 turf

efforts and could challenge for a big payday if she's ready.

LA DOLCE VITA (Quiet American) has faced some talented fields in her last

four with decent results and is another exotics contender on this occasion.

Conditioned by Mark Hennig, the bay mare won her only start over this lawn, the

Hollywood Wildcat Breeders' Cup H. in the spring, and has trained well in

advance of this one. Javier Castellano has the call.

Group 1 heroine SHAPIRA (Chi) (Hussonet) annexed the Chelsey Flower S. at

Belmont in her latest venture and could crash the exotics party with slight

improvement for Bill Mott. The chestnut miss has won two consecutive starts,

versus lesser competition, and it's likely that the chestnut wouldn't mind some

moisture in the ground. We don't like her chances for the win, but a top four

finish is within reach beneath Eddie Castro.

COZZI CAPITAL (Cozzene) was a smart winner of the Calder Oaks two prior but

has yet to face a field of this kind in this stage of her career. The gray

sophomore will need a career-best showing to put a dent in this field.

BEAUTIFUL DANIELE (A.P. Indy), another Mott pupil, wired the field in the

Navajo Princess S. two back and will need an effort at least that good to factor

with these. The bay filly hasn't cracked the top three in her other five stakes ventures,

and we don't like her chances with these. ANNABILL (Outflanker) captured her

lone turf foray over this surface but will need to prove to us that she can do

so against this kind. The four-year-old is bred for turf and could have a future

on the lawn, but we'll pass on this occasion.

GADOLINIUM (Greenwood Lake) is winless in a pair of turf ventures and looks

overmatched in here. MS. LYDONIA (Labeeb [GB]) would be a big factor on

Polytrack with this bunch, but her chances on the green look quite slim.
