Apprentice jockey Rosie Napravnik earned the jockey title at Laurel Park's

72-day winter meeting, which ended on Saturday. The 18-year-old rider recorded

99 wins during the meet, well ahead of Erick Rodriguez in second with 56

victories. Napravnik had 33 multiple winning days and won at least one race 51

times. She captured a pair of added money races, including the Private Terms S. with 73-1 longshot Our

Peak (Peaks and Valleys). Hitting the board with 263 of her 444 mounts, she

earned $1,662,940.

"I didn't expect this to happen so quickly," Napravnik said. "Winning the

stakes races are at the top of the list but winning my 100th career race on my

birthday (February 9) was also a highlight. The first title means a great deal

to me, and this will provide other opportunities because people will know I won

this meet."

Ryan Fogelsonger came in third in the jockey standings with 47 wins, one more

than Luis Garcia in fourth.

Trainer Scott Lake dominated the trainer standings, saddling 58 winners, 26

more than John Rigattieri in second. Lake had three winners on one day six times

and 10 two-win days.

"The Laurel meet has gone well for us, and we look to continue it the rest of

the year," Lake commented. "We had been tailing off in Maryland, but I got the

itch to start growing it again. We revamped some things and really have things

clicking.

"Hugh McMahon really stepped up as my assistant and has done a terrific job,"

he added.

Dale Capuano finished out the top three conditioners at the meet with 25

victories, followed by Howard Wolfendale with 23 and Mike Trombetta capturing 20

races.

Robert Cole earned top owner honors during the 15-week meet with 19 wins --

11 with Lake, seven with Wolfendale and one with Rigattieri.
