Despite a stumbling start, Darley Stable's DAY PASS (Five Star Day) took the

lead soon after the gates opened on Friday's $112,900

Nashua S.

(G3) at Aqueduct, and was never headed en route to a 4 1/4-length victory in

the eight-furlong test. With Fernando Jara aboard, the Kiaran McLaughlin trainee

stopped the clock in 1:36 on the fast dirt and returned $6.10, $3.30 and $3.40

as the 2-1 favorite.

Sightseeing (Pulpit) traveled in last in the early part of the race, but

steadily made his way up to take second by 1 1/4 lengths, giving back $5 and

$4.50 at nearly 7-1 while ending the $41.20 exacta. Xchanger (Exchange Rate),

sent off at 15-1, was worth $5.50 for taking third and completing the $314

trifecta (7-4-2). Pink Viper (Smoke Glacken) followed in fourth and next came

Adore the Gold (Formal Gold), Cowtown Cat (Distorted Humor), Sipsey (Peruvian)

and Trading Star (Hennessy).

Day Pass broke his maiden in his career debut, taking a maiden special weight

at Belmont Park by 1 1/2 lengths on October 7. The gray juvenile now boasts

$93,540 in lifetime earnings to go with his perfect two-for-two mark. Bred in

Kentucky by Silver Oaks Farm, he is out of the stakes-winning Authorized Staff

(Relaunch), who has also produced an unnamed yearling colt by Forest Camp. Day

Pass sold for $725,000 to Darley at the Keeneland April Two-Year-Olds in

Training Sale earlier this year.
