Nineteen on course to line up for Arc

Last updated: 10/3/13 8:14 PM

A maximum 19 runners will go postward for Sunday's Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe

(Fr-G1) after Leading Light, Meandre and Treve were, as expected, added to the

4.8-million event at a cost

of 100,000 each on Thursday.

At the same time, Camelot, Yellow and Green, Manndawi and Kingsbarns were taken out of the Longchamp showpiece.

With Joseph O'Brien unable to make the

123-pound weight set for Epsom Derby hero Ruler of the World and St Leger winner Leading Light, Gerald Mosse, who prevailed aboard Saumarez in

1990, has been engaged to partner the latter Aidan O'Brien trainee.

"I'm extremely happy to have got the ride," Mosse said. "I put my services forward for the ride some time ago when I learned

that my intended mount, Chicquita, was to be sold by her owner and would not be

running. They rang me back and I'm very grateful.

"I have ridden for Mr. O'Brien before, but not

in the Arc. I would not have a worry about the ground if it turned soft. The ground was just on

the soft side of good today, but we are expecting rain tonight. Leading Light looks extremely

strong and solid, and that is just what you need to win an Arc. I've won the race before and

it would be good to put my name back up there among the winners again.

"He gets a

three-kilogram allowance as a three-year-old, which is very helpful, and I'm very happy to be riding him.

He comes from a top stable and looks to have a good chance. It was nice to be chosen to

ride him and I'm delighted."

Ryan Moore is expected to retain the mount aboard Ruler of the

World, who he rode to victory at Epsom and to a second place finish in last month's Prix Niel over the Arc course and distance.

The chances of Lord Lloyd-Webber's Yorkshire

Oaks and Irish Champion Stakes heroine The Fugue participating

increased after John Gosden scratched the four-year-old distaffer from Sunday's Prix de l'Opera.

Final declarations will be made Friday.
