Numbers up at Aqueduct in January
In January, Aqueduct's on-track attendance was up 5.4 percent to a daily
average of 3,280, on-track handle jumped 22 percent to a daily average of
$1,144,498, and total handle on New York Racing Association (NYRA) races
exclusively rose 4.8 percent to a daily average of $8,147,080.
Last year during the month on January, the 10 rebate sites that are no longer
doing business with NYRA accounted for $17 million in handle. Of NYRA's top
simulcast sites, 27 of the top 30, including the top 16, posted increased handle
as compared to the same month last year. Gulfstream Park, Los Alamitos and Lone
Star Park are the only three locations among the top 30 to show declining
business.
Average field size rose slightly from 8.23 to 8.32 starters per race.
