O'Brien leads way to Two Thousand Guineas

A total of 78 three-year-olds have been nominated to the Two Thousand Guineas

(Eng-G1) at Newmarket on May 6, while 85 fillies are still in the running for

the One Thousand Guineas (Eng-G1) at on May 7.

The list of nominees features many of last year's top juveniles. The

Ballydoyle-based Group 1 winners GEORGE WASHINGTON (Danehill) and HORATIO NELSON

(Danehill) head the 17-strong draft for the Two Thousand Guineas trained by

Aidan O'Brien, who also has Group 1 winner RUMPLESTILTSKIN (Danehill) among nine

fillies for the One Thousand Guineas. O'Brien saddled winners of both Classics,

Footstepsinthesand and Virginia Waters, in 2005.

"Trainer Aidan O'Brien and jockey Kieren Fallon came out on top in both

Guineas last year and they must have a good chance of making history by doing so

again," said Michael Prosser, Newmarket's clerk of the course. "The level and

quality of entries for both Classics on the NatWest Rowley Mile are excellent

and we are looking forward with great anticipation to the Stan James Guineas

Festival May 6 and 7."

Other Group 1 winners nominated to the Classics are AMADEUS WOLF (Mozart

[Ire]), DONNA BLINI (Bertolini), NANNINA (Medicean), PALACE EPISODE

(Machiavellian), SILCA'S SISTER (Inchinor [GB]) and SIR PERCY (Mark of Esteem

[Ire]).
