Ouija Board stretches her legs at Churchill

Two-time champion OUIJA BOARD (GB) (Cape Cross [Ire]), who has been installed

as the 8-5 favorite in Saturday's Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf (G1), traveled

a leisurely three furlongs in :44 over the yielding turf at Churchill Downs on

Thursday.

Hoisting the famed colors of Lord Derby, the dark bay captured the 2004

edition of the Filly & Mare Turf and finished second in last year's running. The

Ed Dunlop trainee most recently lost a photo-finish decision to classic winner

Dylan Thomas (Ire) (Danehill) in the September 9 Irish Champion S. (Ire-G1).

"She has a great attitude," Dunlop said. "She flourishes wherever she goes

and puts on weight whenever she goes abroad.

"There has been a lot of questions about the amount of racing she has had

this year," he continued, alluding to her treks to Dubai and Hong Kong, "but

Ouija Board's a freak. She takes her racing well and looks after herself at

home."

Dunlop added that after the mare's final races in Japan and Hong Kong this

autumn, she would be retired. Plans call for her to visit Kingmambo next

breeding season.

Breeders' Futurity (G1) third STREET SENSE (Street Cry [Ire]) exercised in

:50 4/5 with regular rider Calvin Borel in advance of the Juvenile (G1).

"We wanted :51, :52," trainer Carl Nafzger said. "I guess that fifth of a

second won't bother us. He did it perfect. I think we're ready."

Before the work, Nafzger had instructed Borel to reel off each furlong in 13

seconds, "and just let him out a little bit at the end."

Street Sense had previously

finished third in the Arlington-Washington Breeders' Cup Futurity (G3) in his

stakes debut and is listed at 20-1 on the morning line.

Prepping for the Juvenile Fillies (G1), English shipper SATULAGI (Officer)

posted the same time while breaking from the gate. Jockey John Egan, who will

partner the Stan Moore trainee on Saturday, was aboard for the move.

"She was very good at the stalls," Moore said. "She jumped off at the sound

of the bell and breezed to the finish post. The assistant starter said she did

everything perfectly and that he was happy with her."

Winner of the Winkfield S. at Ascot three starts back, Satulagi checked in

third in the Sweet Solera S. (Eng-G3) and fourth in the prestigious Fillies Mile

S. (Eng-G1) in her last two outings. She will be making her dirt debut at

Churchill.

Satulagi's morning line odds are 20-1.
