The Kentucky Derby Museum has announced that Grade 1 veteran and 2002

Kentucky Derby (G1) third-place finisher PERFECT DRIFT (Dynaformer) will be a

seasonal attraction at its facility in Louisville, Kentucky, which is adjacent

to Churchill Downs.

Perfect Drift will arrive at the stable behind the Kentucky Derby Museum and

unload at 4:00 p.m. (EDT) on Tuesday. He will be accompanied by his owner Dr.

William Reed of Stonecrest Farm.

"The Derby Museum is the epitome of the history of our sport. 'Drift' was a

home favorite at Churchill that Derby and now some of his biggest fans will have

the opportunity to visit him in this historic location," Reed said.

The Kentucky-bred gelding was retired last year and was honored in a ceremony

on September 27, 2008, at Turfway Park. He was trained for much of his career by

the Kentucky-based Murray Johnson.

Perfect Drift was an eight-time stakes winner, his signature victory coming

in the 2003 Stephen Foster H. (G1) at Churchill over eventual Horse of the Year

Mineshaft. His other major victories were the 2002 Lane's End Spiral S. (G2) and

Indiana Derby (G3); the 2003 Washington Park H. (G2), Kentucky Cup Classic (G2)

and Hawthorne Gold Cup (G2); and the 2005 Washington Park H. Perfect Drift also

placed in three other editions of the Stephen Foster, the Whitney H. (G1), and

two editions of the Pacific Classic (G1), among other races.

Perfect Drift retired with a mark of 50-11-14-7, $4,714,212. He competed in

five consecutive editions of the Breeders' Cup Classic (G1), with his best

finish a third in 2005 at Belmont Park.

"One of our most popular experiences for tourists is the chance to see a live

race horse," said Lynn Ashton, Executive Director of the Kentucky Derby Museum.

"We are very excited to have a horse of Perfect Drift's caliber here on the

grounds. He'll get some exercise on the racetrack and and remain in the

spotlight posing for pictures with his fans."

Perfect Drift will return to Stonecrest Farms in Kansas City, Missouri,

during the winter months before returning to the Kentucky Derby Museum in the

spring time. Resident horse Phantom On Tour (Tour d'Or) will vacation at local

Upson Down Farms while Perfect Drift is at the museum.
