Plans set for various European stars

Last updated: 6/24/08 5:47 PM

Trainer Aidan O'Brien has set out the forthcoming race schedule for

Ballydoyle's main runners, with Susan Magnier and Michael Tabor's Prince of

Wales's S. (Eng-G1) winner DUKE OF MARMALADE (Danehill) due to contest the King

George VI and Queen Elizabeth S. (Eng-G1). The three-time Group 1 scorer is

likely to be joined in the July 26 Ascot feature by Hardwicke S. (Eng-G2) hero

MACARTHUR (Montjeu [Ire]), with Magnier, Tabor and Smith's English (Eng-G1) and

Irish Two Thousand Guineas (Ire-G1) and St James's Palace S. (Eng-G1) winner

HENRYTHENAVIGATOR (Kingmambo) likely to run in Goodwood's Sussex S. (Eng-G1) on

July 30.

"We've all discussed things and, while plans can always change, we've come up

with a list of the races for our Ascot winners, and we're looking at Duke of

Marmalade and Macarthur going for the King George," he told the Racing Post.

"SOLDIER OF FORTUNE (Galileo [Ire]) may go to France on Sunday for the Grand

Prix de Saint-Cloud (Fr-G1) and, for now, we are looking no further than that

race for him. We will see how he gets on there before looking any further ahead.

"The current plan is to send YEATS (Ire) (Sadler's Wells) and HONOLULU (Ire)

(Montjeu [Ire]), who won the Queen Alexandra, for the (July 31) Goodwood Cup

(Eng-G2)."

O'Brien also revealed that Queen Anne S. (Eng-G1) fifth MOUNT NELSON (Rock of

Gibraltar [Ire]) would be targeted at next Saturday's Eclipse S. (Eng-G1) at

Sandown.

Also confirmed on course for the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud is Baron Georg von

Ullmann's GETAWAY (Monsun), where he will renew a rivalry with his Coronation

Cup (Eng-G1) conqueror Soldier of Fortune. Only fifth behind that rival in the

June 6 Epsom contest, the Andre Fabre-trained five-year-old will not be

partnered by Stephane Pasquier, who will be required for Khalid Abdullah's

ZAMBEZI SUN (Dansili [GB]).

"Getaway will run in the Grand Prix at Saint-Cloud and will have SOMMERTAG

(Tiger Hill) as a pacemaker," the owner/breeder's racing manager Paul Harley

told PA Sport. "He was fine after his race at Epsom and Andre Fabre is pleased

with the horse, who we did not want to race too much early in the year."

Meanwhile, Princess Zahra Aga Khan's DARJINA (Zamindar) is being aimed at the

Falmouth S. (Eng-G1) at Newmarket on July 9, her connections announced Tuesday.

Trainer Alain de Royer Dupre revealed that the Queen Anne S. runner-up would

make a quick return to Britain for the £200,000

mile contest.

"Darjina returned home after Ascot and has been playful and full of life," de

Royer Dupre explained. "She seems to be very well. She certainly looks well, so

if there's no problem with her, then the plan is to take her to Newmarket for

the Falmouth S. The only problem for her would be if there was too much rain.

She needs to have good to firm ground to run her best race."

Also set to be in the line-up is Dick Karreman's SEACHANGE (Cape Cross

[Ire]), who was 12th in Saturday's Golden Jubilee S. (Eng-G1).

"We'll go for the Falmouth S. -- that's the plan at this stage," trainer

Graeme Sanders announced Tuesday. "We just hope it stays dry now, because she's

got to have that firm ground."
