Platinum strikes gold at Inglis
A colt by first-crop sire Platinum Scissors topped Sunday's opening session
of the Inglis & Son Autumn Yearling Sale in Melbourne.
Purchased by Corowa trainer Richard Freyer, Lot No. 117 is one of only a
handful of first-crop yearlings by the full brother to champion sire Redoute's
Choice. The September 15 foal is out of the Kingston Rule mare Rulable, who is a
full sister to stakes winner Pure Imagination. Consigned by H.J. & J.R.
Martin, the bay is from the family of Better Loosen Up, 1991 Australian Horse of
the Year and an earner of more than A$4.5 million.
"I trained his mother and she was a bonny good mare and I was going with him
regardless," Freyer said. "He has a head and neck like his sire and plenty of
similarities to Redoute's Choice also, right down to the walk."
At the
conclusion of Day 1, a total of 202 head were sold for a gross of A$2,634,600,
an Inglis record, while the average rose by 11 percent to A$13,042. The final
session is Monday.
