Power outage cancels simulcast schedule at Trackside

Louisville

A weather-related power outage forced Churchill Downs officials to cancel the

simulcast wagering schedule at Trackside Louisville for Sunday.

A lightning strike during an overnight thunderstorm left the off-track

betting facility completely without power and the service couldn't be restored

in time to conduct Sunday's simulcast wagering schedule.

Simulcasting is set to resume at Trackside at Churchill Downs following the

post-Kentucky Derby break on Thursday, as will the track's live racing schedule

in its 2010 spring meet that continues through July 4. Admission gates open on

Thursday at 11:30 a.m. (EDT) and fans who wish to cash their Kentucky Oaks (G1)

and Kentucky Derby (G1) mutuel tickets will be admitted free to Trackside at

Churchill when they produce one of those tickets at the gate. Free admission

will be granted to those patrons through May 9.

Live racing for the spring meet at Churchill Downs will resume with large

carryovers in the Pick 6 and Super Hi-5 wagers.  The Pick 6, which requires

bettors to select the winners of the day's final six races, will return on

Thursday with a carryover of $947,641. The Super Hi-5, which is offered in the

day's final race and requires fans to select the first five finishers in that

race in the correct order, will resume with a carryover of $147,055.

Post time for the first race at Churchill Downs this week is 12:45 p.m., with

the exception of Friday's 2:45 p.m. post time for the first session of "Dress to

Impress Friday Happy Hours."
