Consequent provided Hall of Fame trainer Bob Baffert with his ninth consecutive victory, and 12th overall, in the $200,000 Starlet (G2) at Los Alamitos on Saturday.

The 2.80-1 second choice behind stablemate Nimah, who was favored at 2-5, Consequent wore down both that rival and pacesetter Cashed through the long Los Alamitos stretch to win by a length under Kazushi Kimura.

A homebred campaigned by Juddmonte, Consequent paid $7.60 after covering 1 1/16 miles over a fast track in 1:44.03.

Cashed turned back a prolonged challenge from Nimah and claimed second by four lengths. Nimah was 14 lengths clear of Cosmic Heat, while Jewlz trailed the field of five.

Consequent earned 10 qualifying points toward the Kentucky Oaks (G1) next May. Cashed earned five Oaks points, Nimah three points, Cosmic Heat two points, and Jewlz one point.

The Starlet was the second win in as many starts for Consequent, who beat maiden foes by a half-length at Del Mar on Nov. 14. She, along with Jewlz, were the only two Starlet entries with prior experience around two turns.

Consequent is an Into Mischief full sister to stakes winner Show Card. Both were reared by Cognitive, a daughter of Uncle Mo.
