After her win streak was snapped after three races in last month's Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup (G1), Fionn got back on the winning track Saturday at Aqueduct, surging inside the final furlong to overtake even-money favorite Laurelin in the $350,000 Jockey Club Oaks (G3).

Last but one for much of the 1 3/8-mile journey on firm turf, Fionn made a six-wide bid turning for home, followed Laurelin into contention, and accelerated past that rival late to win by a half-length under Flavien Prat.

Owned by Michael Lee and George Messina, the Brad Cox-trained Fionn returned $4.82. She covered the course in 2:17.22

Laurelin, who suffered her first career loss when second in the Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup, two positions ahead of Laurelin, finished three lengths clear of Don't Jinx It. Scythian, Unmerited Favor, National Archive, Hereforagoodtime, and Evershed completed the order of finish.

The Jockey Club Oaks was the fifth stakes win of the season for Fionn. Her signature win came in July, when she defeated presumptive three-year-old filly champion Nitrogen by a nose in the Belmont Oaks (G1) at Saratoga.

Other stakes wins achieved by Fionn were the Allen Black Cat Lacombe Memorial at Fair Grounds, the Regret (G3) at Churchill Downs, and the Dueling Grounds Oaks at Kentucky Downs. Her owners said she might race once more this year, in the Dec. 26 American Oaks (G1) over 1 1/4 miles at Santa Anita.

Fionn has won seven of 10 starts overall and bankrolled more than $2 million. She is a Kentucky-bred daughter of Twirling Candy and Gaelic Gold, by Giant's Causeway.
