Ramseys lead all breeders in 2013

Kenneth L. Ramsey & Sarah K. Ramsey topped the individual breeders list in

North America in 2013 with $12,175,837 in earnings, according to statistics

released Thursday by The Jockey Club Information Systems Inc. The Ramseys bred

the winners of 287 races from 2,071 starts.

For the past 10 years, Adena Springs led the individual breeders list, and it

finished second this year with $11,999,752 in earnings and 347 winners from

2,309 starts.

Adena Springs did finish on top of the breeders list that includes

partnerships with 366 wins from 2,469 starts for earnings of $12,650,220. On

this list, Kenneth L. Ramsey & Sarah K. Ramsey finished second with $12,285,751

in earnings and 290 winners from 2,088 starts.

Rounding out the list of top 10 individual breeders were Darley, $6,777,964

(116 wins / 663 starts); WinStar Farm LLC, $6,716,827 (158/993); Brereton C.

Jones, $6,412,036 (252/1,625); W. S. Farish, $5,130,023 (87/607); Eugene Melnyk,

$4,193,725 (165/1,185); Sam-Son Farm, $3,909,710 (71/379); Liberation Farm &

Brandywine Farm, $3,668,344 (140/964); and Claiborne Farm & Adele B.

Dilschneider, $3,535,261 (60/324).

Completing the list of top 10 breeders including partnerships were Darley,

$8,776,001 (167 wins / 1,060 starts); W. S. Farish, $7,200410 (179/1,220);

WinStar Farm LLC, $7,113,468 (175/1,108); Brereton C. Jones, $6,975,710

(279/1,857); Claiborne Farm, $5,393,283 (124/741); Phipps Stable, $5,310,707,

(53/305); Liberation Farm, $4,960,643 (187/1,432); and Brandywine Farm, $4,502,

992 (178/1,239).
