ROUND POND (Awesome Again), winner of the 2006 Breeders' Cup Distaff (G1),

sold for $5.75 million on Sunday at Fasig-Tipton's Selected November

Sale at Newtown Paddocks in Lexington, Kentucky. Selling as Hip

No. 72 and consigned by Taylor Made Sales Agency, agent for Fox Hill Farms, the bay mare was

purchased as a broodmare prospect by John Ferguson, who represents Sheikh

Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum.

The sales topper began her career under the care of John Servis and,

following a third-place finish in her debut, the miss reeled off four consecutive

tallies capped by the Acorn S. (G1). She began her 2006

season with a pair of wins, including the Azeri Breeders' Cup S. (G3), but was

transferred to the barn of Michael Matz and followed with placings in the Molly

Pitcher Breeders' Cup S. (G2) and Beldame S. (G1). In the Distaff, Round Pond

surged through an opening along the inside turning for home and drew off by 5

1/2 lengths. She concluded her career when third in the Apple Blossom H.

(G1) in April.

Round Pond retired with a

13-7-2-3 mark after banking $1,998,700.

The next highest price was recorded by multiple Grade 1 heroine OCTAVE (Unbridled's

Song) at $4 million. The three-year-old gray, who was also consigned by Taylor

Made, agent, was cataloged as Hip 112A and purchased by Ferguson as a racing/broodmare

prospect.

Octave raced in the colors of Starlight Stable and Donald J. Lucarelli, and was conditioned by Todd

Pletcher, compiling a stellar mark of 13-4-7-2. The miss had a fine freshman

campaign, capturing the Adirondack Breeders' Cup S. (G2) and recording

second-place efforts in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1), Matron S. (G1)

and Astoria S.

The filly reached new heights at three, bagging the Mother Goose S. (G1) and

Coaching Club American Oaks (G1), while placing in the Kentucky Oaks (G1),

Ashland S. (G1), Alabama S. (G1), Fair Grounds Oaks (G2) and Cotillion H. (G2).

She was a fast-closing third in the recent Breeders' Cup Distaff.

Two-time Grade 1 star DREAM RUSH (Wild Rush) brought $3.3 million as a

racing/broodmare prospect for D. Easter, agent for Halsey Manor. Selling as Hip

163 from the Hill 'n' Dale consignment, the lightning-quick three-year-old

captured the Test S. (G1), Prioress Breeders' Cup S. (G1), Nassau County

Breeders' Cup S. (G2) and Old Hat S. (G3), while placing second in the Acorn. A probable finalist for an Eclipse Award, the speedster faded to fifth in

the inaugural Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Sprint most recently at Monmouth Park.

John Ferguson was active again as he went to $3 million for Hip 133, Grade

1-winning mare ASI SIEMPRE (El Prado [Ire]). Consigned by Bluewater Sales LLC,

agent, the five-year-old was offered as a racing/broodmare prospect. Adept on

dirt, turf and synthetic surfaces, Asi Siempre's marquee win was in the 2006

Spinster S. (G1).

INDY FIVE HUNDRED (A.P. Indy), winner of the 2003 Garden City Breeders' Cup

H. (G1), also brought $3 million from Ferguson. Consigned by Lane's End Farm,

agent, the seven-year-old mare sold as Hip 19, and is in foal to Kingmambo.

Three-time Grade 1 queen PUSSYCAT DOLL (Real Quiet) brought the gavel down at

$2.3 million, going to Lael Stable, Nicoma, agent, as Hip 51. The five-year-old mare

captured a Grade 1 in three consecutive seasons, including this year's Santa

Monica H. (G1). Consigned by Hill 'n' Dale, agent, the classy bay was offered as

a racing/broodmare prospect.

A total of 107 horses was sold Sunday for a cumulative sum of $52,036,000,

down 18.9 percent from one year ago, when 170

horses realized a gross of $64,130,000. The 2007 average of $486,318 showed a

substantial 28.9 percent increase from the $377,235 average posted last year. The median

rose a moderate 2.9 percent, from $175,000 to $180,000.
