Run Away and Hide draws rail in Saratoga Special

Last updated: 8/11/08 6:00 PM

Kentucky S. (G3) winner RUN AWAY AND HIDE (City Zip) will break from the rail

as he tries to maintain his perfect record in the $150,000

Saratoga Special S. (G2) on Thursday. The Ronny Werner juvenile will meet

eight rivals in the 103rd running of the 6 1/2-furlong affair at the Spa.

A front-running debut maiden winner on the Polytrack at Keeneland, Run Away

and Hide successfully switched to the dirt in the Kentucky S. during Derby week

at Churchill Downs. On that occasion, the bay stalked in second before sweeping

to a 2 1/2-length victory over subsequent Debutante S. (G3) heroine Garden

District (Dixie Union), who is entered in Wednesday's Adirondack S. (G2). Robby

Albarado will be back aboard Run Away and Hide.

Horseman Steve Asmussen will be represented by Bashford Manor S. (G3)

runner-up LYIN' HEART (Lion Heart), while the ever-dangerous Todd Pletcher will

saddle last-out maiden winner JOIN IN THE DANCE (Sky Mesa).

A pair of sharp first-out winners will make their stakes debut in the

Saratoga Special. The well-regarded REYNALDOTHEWIZARD (Speightstown), who was

acquired for $775,000 earlier this year at Fasig-Tipton Calder, rallied for an

impressive debut score at Churchill for Eoin Harty. BREAK WATER EDISON (Lemon

Drop Kid), snapped up by trainer John Kimmel for $525,000 at OBS March,

contested the pace in a Belmont maiden before drawing 4 3/4 lengths clear.

PROUD JEFE (Proud Citizen) booked his ticket to the Spa with a 5 3/4-length

romp in the Brian Barenscheer Juvenile S. at Canterbury. Two starts back, the

Tom Amoss trainee defeated Cognito (Langfuhr), a $700,000 two-year-old in

training purchase who came right back to break his maiden on opening day at the

Spa.

Earlier on the card, a well-matched group of five New York-bred sophomores

will line up in the

Van

Raalte S. MEGAPIXEL (Tale of the Cat) may have a slight edge at this

seven-furlong trip.
