Saint Liam doing well after Foster

Last updated: 6/19/05 10:21 PM

Saturday's Stephen Foster H. (G1) winner SAINT LIAM (Saint Ballado) exited

the race in good condition according to Jose Cuevas, assistant trainer to Bobby

Frankel. The five-year-old bay left Churchill Downs around 5:30 (EDT) Sunday

morning for a quick van ride to Lexington, Kentucky where he flew to Belmont

Park.

The 2 3/4-length score was his third in four races at Churchill, his most

recent a 1 1/4-length victory of the Clark H. (G2) last November. It also marked

his second Grade 1 victory of the year, winning the Donn H. (G1) at Gulfstream

Park in February.

Carl Nafzger's barn was content with EUROSILVER's (Unbridled's

Song) second-place performance. The four-year-old dark bay closed rapidly from sixth-place to

earn his best performance since annexing the Skip Away H. (G3) in April.

"The thing that I was most pleased with was the way he ran past (2003 Foster

winner) Perfect Drift (Dynaformer)," assistant trainer Ian Wilkes said. "It's

tough to get past him."

Wilkes commented that there are not set plans for Eurosilver's immediate

future.

"We felt he was ready, but he had to step up and do it," he said. "Now we've

just got to see if he can keep doing it.

Saint Liam's stablemate, BADGE OF SILVER (Silver Deputy), finished sixth and

was found to have bled during the 1 1/8-mile event. The five-year-old dark bay

left Churchill Saturday evening and was transported to owner Ken and Sarah

Ramsey's farm in order to rest according to Cuevas.
