Scipion retired to Murmur Farm

Last updated: 10/14/07 6:01 PM

Grade 3 winner SCIPION (A.P. Indy) has been retired and will enter stud at

Allen and Audrey Murray's Murmur Farm near Darlington, Maryland.

Scipion garnered attention from the beginning, bringing $1.9 million as a 2003 Fasig-Tipton

Saratoga yearling. He captured his career debut for trainer Patrick Biancone prior to running third in the Cradle S. (G3). As a sophomore, the dark

bay added the Risen Star S. (G3) to his record, and was second in the Point

Given S. and fourth in the Dominion Day S. (Can-G3) last year. Scipion made just

one start this season, running off-the-board in an allowance/optional claimer

under the tutelage of Christophe Clement, and heads to the breeding shed with a

17-2-2-4, $194,056, record.

Scipion is out of the Grade 3-winning Strawberry Reason (Strawberry Road

[Aus]), making him a three-quarter brother to undefeated champion and top

freshman sire Vindication (Seattle Slew) and a half-brother to this year's Kentucky Cup

Juvenile S. (G3) third-placer Blackberry Road (Gone West).

"We are thrilled to have such a fine-looking individual who is so closely

related to 2007 top freshman sire Vindication, who may be the next great sire,"

the Murrays said in a statement. "

Scipion's 2008 stud fee has been set at $6,000, live foal, and he is in the

process of being syndicated.
