Last updated: 9/5/08 7:15 PM

Accomplished sire SILVER DEPUTY (Deputy Minister) has been pensioned due to

declining fertility, stallion manager Ric Waldman announced on Friday. The

23-year-old stood at Fred Seitz's Brookdale Farm near Versailles, Kentucky.

Sire of $3 million-earner Silverbulletday, the champion two-year-old filly in

1998 and champion three-year-old filly in 1999, Silver Deputy is responsible for

at least 75 total stakes winners. He's the sire of Canadian champions Deputy

Inxs, Archers Bay, Deputy Jane West, Scotzanna, Poetically and Larkwhistle as

well as Grade 1 winners Spring at Last and Pool Land. His son, the Grade

2-winning Posse, was the leading freshman sire in 2007, and he's been

represented this season by the notable sprinter J Be K, winner of the Woody

Stephens S. (G2), Bay Shore S. (G3) and Jersey Shore S. (G3).

Silver Deputy's daughters have produced the likes of Canadian Horse of the

Year Wake at Noon, Grade 1-winning sires El Corredor and Roman Ruler, and

current multiple Grade 2 queen Miraculous Miss.

Silver Deputy sold for $200,000 at the 1986 Fasig-Tipton Kentucky July sale

and garnered both career starts, including the 1987 Swynford S., before heading

to stud.
