Simple Verse awarded St Leger win on appeal

Last updated: 9/23/15 3:14 PM

A panel of the British Horseracing Authority on Wednesday reversed the

results of the September 12 St Leger (Eng-G1) at Doncaster on appeal.

On the day of the race, Simple Verse (Duke of Marmalade) was disqualified

from first and placed second behind Bondi Beach (Galileo) for stretch

interference. An appeal was lodged by the connections of Simple Verse and has

been won.

Simple Verse now becomes the first filly to win the fifth and final English

classic since User Friendly in 1992.
