Songandaprayer filly sells for $170,000

A yearling filly by Songandaprayer brought the top price of $170,000 at the

Ocala Breeders' Sales Company's Winter Mixed Sale on Thursday. The Florida-bred

lass, Hip No. 739, highlighted the third and final consignor preferred session.

Named SONGSIMAGE, she was consigned by Beth Bayer, agent, and sold to Memory of

Song Stable.

The bay filly is the third foal out of the Tactical Advantage mare Janeera, a

half-sister to Grade 2 winner Maston (Hold Your Peace) and multiple stakes

hero Night Above (Great Above). Janeera is also a half-sister to Exuberant

Jane (Exuberant), the dam of multiple stakes winner and $520,648 earner Get My

Glitter (Glitterman).

Hip 800, a colt by Tale of the Cat, fetched $140,000 from C & M Stables.

Consigned by Moreau Bloodstock, agent, the dark bay is the first foal out of the

winning Seeking the Gold mare Lemon Twist, a half-sister to 2005 Texas Mile S.

(G3) winner High Strike Zone (Smart Strike) and stakes victress Secret Beauty

(Smart Strike). His third dam, Angel Island (*Cougar II), won the 1978

Alcibiades S. (G2) and two other black-type events.

The top price mare was Hip 693, HOLLOW SKY (Yes It's True), who sold for

$80,000 to Curtis Green. The gray four-year-old is a half-sister to undefeated

2005 Sapling S. (G3) winner He's Got Grit (Songandaprayer), who also captured

the Cowdin S. and Tyro S. and earned $191,900 in four starts.

Hollow Sky, out of multiple stakes queen and $268,475 earner Hollow Miss

(With Approval), was consigned by Johnson Hollow Farm (Dean and Peggy Johnson),

agent, as a broodmare prospect. Her granddam is Grade 3-placed Fashion Dynasty

(Well Decorated), who also produced stakes-placed winners Cruzin West (Kris S.)

and Stormy Dynasty (Future Storm).

For Thursday's session, the sales company reported 174 horses sold for a

total $2,870,500 and

an average of $16,497. There was no corresponding session last year.

For the three consignor preferred sessions, 533 horses were bought for a

gross $9,434,400, an

increase of 31.7 percent compared to two consignor preferred sessions in 2005

that  realized $7,164,800 for 373 horses sold. The average price declined 7.9 percent, from $19,209 to $17,701.

The sale concludes Friday with an open session, which begins at 11 a.m.
