Brittlyn Stable Inc.'s seven-year-old Star Guitar rallied from last in a

field of 10 on Saturday night to capture his fourth consecutive $200,000

Louisiana Premier Night Championship at Delta Downs.

Under jockey Corey Lanerie, Star Guitar was taken to the back of the

field in the 1 1/16-mile test for older Louisiana-breds before launching

a sustained rally going into the far turn. When he reached the top of

the homestretch, Star Guitar had leaders Classic Cascade and Populist

Politics in his sights and he quickly went by to score a 3 1/4-length

win.

Star Guitar paid $3.20, $2.20 and $2.10 for his victory as the 3-5

favorite. Classic Cascade, a 60-1 longshot, stayed for second. Populist

Politics wound up another length behind in third.

Star Guitar covered the distance of the Championship over a muddy

track in a time of 1:45 3/5. The score by the Quiet American bay horse

marked his eighth straight victory and improved his mark to read

28-22-0-2.

The winner's share of $120,000 pushed the Al Stall Jr. trainee's

lifetime earnings to $1,635,862 and he trails only Happy Ticket

($1,688,838) as the richest Pelican State-bred in history. Those two,

along with the trailblazing Scott's Scoundrel ($1,270,052), are the only

millionaires bred in Louisiana.

In other action on Louisiana Premier Night at Delta Downs it was Warrior

Maid who took the $150,000

Louisiana Premier Night Distaff with jockey Eddie

Martin Jr. in the saddle for trainer Eric Heitzmann.

Little Ms Protocol, trained by Patrick Devereux Jr., captured the $125,000

Louisiana Premier Night Starlet under jockey Diego Saenz. The companion

event for sophomore colts and geldings, the $125,000

Louisiana Premier Night Prince, was annexed by Cajun Charlie, who

was guided to victory by jockey Tracy Hebert for conditioner by

Brian House.

Jockey Miguel Mena captured four straight races on the card, including

guiding Speedacious to a second consecutive win in the $100,000

Louisiana Premier Night Matron for trainer W. Bret Calhoun. The

jockey/trainer pair teamed up two races later with Su Casa G Casa to take the

$100,000

Louisiana Premier Night Sprint.

Mena began his four-win night when piloting Get in Da House to victory in the

$70,000

Louisiana Premier Night Gentlemen Starter for trainer Wesley Hawley. His

penultimate score came in the $70,000

Louisiana Premier Night Ladies Starter,

which was won by Nana Knows for trainer and co-owner Hawley.

The $55,000

Louisiana Premier Night Bon Temps Starter was won by Sweet Little

Sleet with jockey C. J. McMahon in the saddle for trainer Carl Deville. McMahon

would return later on the card to guide Redhotrush

in the nightcap, the $55,000

Louisiana Premier Night Ragin Cajun Starter.

The score by Redhotrush gave John Troy

Hardy his first victory as a trainer.
