Story to Tell heads 10 juveniles in the Speakeasy
Story to Tell displayed plenty of promise making his first two starts at
Santa Anita, easily capturing his career debut over maiden special weight rivals
before a narrow runner-up finish in the June 22 Santa Anita Juvenile, and the
Dan Hendricks-trained colt will return to the Arcadia, California track for
Monday's $100,000
He tops a field of 10 two-year-olds in the six-furlong contest.
Story to Tell garnered his first stakes victory in his third career outing,
taking the Willard Proctor Memorial at Los Alamitos on July 13 by a facile 1
1/4-length margin. He exits the only disappointing performance in his career,
and the lone non-dirt start, finishing last of six runners in the August 3 Best
Pal at Del Mar. Regular rider Joe Talamo sticks with the son of Bluegrass Cat.
Lord Nelson will also attract support following his fourth-place showing in
the Grade 1 FrontRunner on September 27. A debut winner at Del Mar on July 19,
the Pulpit colt was freshened more than two months prior to his stakes debut
last time, finishing 6 1/2 lengths back of stablemate and leading Breeders' Cup
Juvenile contender American Pharoah, and the Bob Baffert charge could appreciate
the cut back to one turn in this spot. Martin Garcia rides.
Tizcano, a 6 1/2-length debut winner at Gulfstream Park on June 22, will make
his first start for trainer Peter Miller. The Tiznow colt earned a whopping 96
BRIS Speed rating last time and was sold for $710,000 at the Fasig-Tipton
Kentucky July Horses of Racing Age sale based upon that performance. Tyler Baze
picks up the assignment.
All Indians exits a convincing maiden special weight score in his second
career start at Del Mar and shows a bullet four-furlong work at Santa Anita in
preparation. Rafael Bejarano will be up for Bob Hess Jr. Grand Full Moon and
Truely Quick, stakes victors at Canterbury Park and Santa Rosa, respectively,
will be tested for class against this competition.
