Last updated: 4/22/12 9:04 PM

Grade 1 star Street Hero recorded his first winner as a freshman sire Sunday

when Street Magic romped by 5 1/4 lengths at Calder. Making her career debut in

the 3RD race, the Monarch Stables homebred grabbed command early and widened her

advantage beneath Eduardo Nunez. The David Vivian pupil completed the 4

1/2-furlong maiden special weight in :54 on the good track.

Street Hero, a homebred campaigned by Myung Kwon Cho, was among the leaders

of his generation at two. The winner of the Grade 1 Norfolk Stakes at Santa

Anita, he also finished third in both the Grade 1 Del Mar Futurity and Breeders'

Cup Juvenile. Street Hero's promising career was then halted by injury, and he

was retired at the end of his juvenile season with a record of 6-1-2-3,

$419,630.

By the international sire Street Cry, Street Hero was produced by the Grade

3-placed Summer Squall mare Squall Linda, making him a half-brother to Grade 2

winner Premier Pegasus.

The six-year-old Street Hero stands at Vinery near Lexington, Kentucky, for

$5,000, live foal.
