STREET SENSE (Street Cry [Ire]), the champion two-year-old male who rolled to

a 10-length victory in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile (G1), received the top weight

assignment of 127 pounds on the 2007 Experimental Free Handicap.

The filly division was topped by DREAMING OF ANNA (Rahy), the champion

two-year-old filly who galloped to a resounding triumph in the Breeders' Cup

Juvenile Fillies (G1), at 123 pounds.

The Experimental Free Handicap, published annually by The Jockey Club since

1935, is a weight-based assessment of the previous year's leading two-year-olds,

with the weights compiled for a hypothetical race at 1 1/16 miles on dirt. This

year's weighting committee was comprised of racing secretaries Ben Huffman of

Churchill Downs, P. J. Campo of the New York Racing Association and Thomas S.

Robbins of the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club.

The committee weighted a total of 92 males and 85 fillies. Those eligible for

consideration were all two-year-olds of 2006 who finished among the top four in

graded or other unrestricted stakes races run in the continental United States

with an added value of at least $75,000.

James B. Tafel's homebred Street Sense earned $1,178,200 from a record of

5-2-1-2. In addition to his romp in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile, the Carl Nafzger-trained

colt placed third in both the Breeders' Futurity (G1) and Arlington-Washington

Breeders' Cup Futurity (G3).

The 127 pounds assigned to Street Sense is one pound more than last year's

highweight, Stevie Wonderboy (Stephen Got Even), and is the highest assignment

for a colt since Favorite Trick received 128 pounds on the 1997 Experimental

Free Handicap.

Street Sense is weighted four pounds higher than James T. Scatuorchio and

Michael B. Tabor's SCAT DADDY (Johannesburg), a winner of three of five starts

and $507,800. Scat Daddy won the Champagne S. (G1) and Sanford S. (G2). He

placed second to stablemate CIRCULAR QUAY (Thunder Gulch) in the Hopeful S. (G1)

and closed out his juvenile campaign with a fourth-place effort in the Breeders'

Cup Juvenile.

Michael B. and Doreen Tabor's Circular Quay, J. Paul Reddam's GREAT HUNTER

(Aptitude) and Elizabeth J. Valando's NOBIZ LIKE SHOBIZ (Albert the Great) were

each assigned 122 pounds.

Circular Quay, a winner of three of five starts and $781,434, won the Hopeful

and Bashford Manor S. (G3). The chestnut finished second in the Breeders' Cup

Juvenile and Breeders' Futurity.

Great Hunter won the Breeders' Futurity and earned $630,000 from a record of

7-2-4-1. The dark bay finished second in the Del Mar Futurity (G2), Best Pal S.

(G2) and Hollywood Juvenile Championship S. (G3) as well as third in the Breeders' Cup

Juvenile.

Nobiz Like Shobiz won the Remsen S. (G2) and finished second in the

Champagne. The bay has a record of 3-2-1-0, $226,400.

The 123 pounds assigned to Dreaming of Anna is the standard impost for female

two-year-olds on the Experimental and is equivalent to the assignment on last

year's highweight, champion Folklore (Tiznow).

Owned and bred by Frank C. Calabrese, Dreaming of Anna proved to be a dynamo

on both dirt and turf, winning all four starts. The Wayne Catalano-trained filly

broke her maiden on the main track at Arlington Park before recording a pair of

stakes wins on the grass, the Tippett S. in course record-setting time (1:01 3/5

for 5 1/2 furlongs) at Colonial Downs and the Summer S. (Can-G3) versus males at

Woodbine. All three victories were convincing, front-running tallies, and the

chestnut filly was in complete command from the start of the Breeders' Cup

Juvenile Fillies, winning gate-to-wire by 1 1/2 lengths.

Dreaming of Anna is weighted three pounds higher than OCTAVE (Unbridled's

Song), who earned $610,700 from a mark of 5-2-3-0. Owned by Starlight Stable,

Donald J. Lucarelli and Jack Wolf, Octave won the Adirondack Breeders' Cup S. (G2) and

finished second in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies, Matron S. (G1) and

Astoria S.

Reddam's CASH INCLUDED (Include) was assigned 119 pounds. The dark

bay won two of four starts, including the Oak Leaf S. (G1), and earned $234,980.

Cash Included closed out her two-year-old season with a fifth-place finish in

the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies.

Among the sires of Experimental horses, Johannesburg and Tale of the Cat top

the male division with four representatives each. Include, Lemon Drop Kid, More

Than Ready, Smart Strike, Successful Appeal and Yes It's True head the female

division with three representatives each. Combining the two lists, Johannesburg,

Smart Strike, Take of the Cat and Yes It's True are the leading sires with five

representatives each. Of the 177 juveniles weighted, 104 were bred in Kentucky,

33 in Florida and nine in California.
