Tapiture breezes for Rebel

Tapiture, an impressive winner of the $300,000 Southwest in his sophomore debut February 17, worked four furlongs in :50 1/5 over a fast track at Oaklawn Park on Monday in advance of Saturday's $600,000 Rebel. Entries for the Rebel, a 1 1/16-mile prep for the $1 million Arkansas Derby on April 12, will be drawn Wednesday. A son of Tapit owned by Winchell Thoroughbreds and trained by Steve Asmussen, Tapiture placed in his first three starts last season before breaking his maiden in the Kentucky Jockey Club at Churchill Downs on November 30. He is currently ninth in the "Road to the Kentucky Derby" standings with 22 points.

Points of 50-20-10-5 will be awarded to the top four finishers in the Rebel.
