Tattersalls Ireland looks to continue strong European

sales trend

Europe's yearling sales season has begun in

sensational

fashion, with figures up across the board at Deauville, Doncaster and

Baden-Baden, and Tuesday

it's Tattersalls Ireland's turn as it launches the three-day September Sale at

its Fairyhouse

venue. This season, the 2005 graduate Creachadoir (King's Best) --who cost just

83,000 -- has finished runner-up in both

the Poule d'Essai des Poulains (Fr-G1) at Longchamp and Irish Two Thousand Guineas

(Ire-G1)

at The Curragh, while the 16,000-purchase Valbenny (Ire)

(Val Royal [Fr]) has proven a revelation

stateside

when winning Hollywood Park's Honeymoon Breeders' Cup H. (G2) in June before

finishing

runner-up in the American Oaks Invitational S. (G1) the following month and Del Mar Oaks

(G1) in

August.

Others to fly the flag in 2007 include the Irish One Thousand Guineas

(Ire-G1) runner-up Dimenticata (Danetime),

bought for 50,000; and the Prix du Lys

(Fr-G3) winner Airmail Special (Peintre Celebre), who

fetched a mere 9,000 in 2005 and now races in the colors of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al

Maktoum.

All have added luster to the previous alumni which include the 2004 Irish One

Thousand Guineas eroine Saoire (GB), the multiple group and graded stakes winner Silver Cup

(Ire), top-class

sprinter The Tatling (Perugino), 2005 Poule d'Essai des Poulains runner-up

Indesatchel,

2002 Dewhurst S. (Eng-G1) winner Tout Seul and 2001 Yorkshire Oaks (Eng-G1) heroine

Super Tassa

(Ire).

Tatts Ireland also stages a 300,000 sales race in August at The Curragh,

won this year

by the 21,000-acquisition Sudden Impact (Modigliani); her Danetime half-sister is

a notable

withdrawal.

Featured among this 704-strong catalog are the leading sires Alhaarth,

Danehill Dancer, Dansili (GB), Fasliyev, Galileo (Ire), Invincible Spirit, King's Best,

Marju, Medicean, Monsun, Montjeu (Ire), Night Shift, Pivotal, Red

Ransom, Royal Applause (GB) and Singspiel (Ire), while those who have their

first runners on the track this year include Acclamation, Choisir, Hawk Wing, High

Chaparral (Ire),

Oasis Dream (GB) and Sakhee. As in 2006, the freshman sires get their own chance

in the spotlight from the outset with the "New Sires' Showcase" of 63 yearlings.
