Texas Red holds off Frosted in Jim Dandy
Texas Red (Afleet Alex) caught the front-running Japan (Medaglia d'Oro)
turning for home and held off Frosted (Tapit) late to take the $570,000
Dandy (G2) at Saratoga on Saturday.
The 9-5 second choice in a field of four, Texas Red covered nine furlongs in
1:47.77 in what is the traditional local prep for the Travers (G1), which is
scheduled for August 29. Kent Desormeaux was aboard the Breeders' Cup Juvenile
(G1) winner, who is trained by his brother Keith.
