Tin Horse among 17 left in Prix du Jockey-Club

Last updated: 6/1/11 4:56 PM

TIN HORSE (Sakhee) is set to contest

Sunday's Prix du Jockey-Club (Fr-G1) at Chantilly, connections announced

Wednesday.

Successful in the Poule d'Essai des Poulains (Fr-G1) at Longchamp, the Didier

Guillemin-trained gray is set to step up in trip after his career-high in that

May 15 mile classic, forsaking a crack at the St James's Palace S. (Eng-G1) in the

process.

"He's never had any experience of running in England and I think the

longer trip in France might be better for him," the owner's Racing Manager

Gilles Forien told PA Sport. "There is a lot of money on offer in Chantilly and

it's a good race for him. He finished his serious work on Tuesday morning, which

went very well, and he's in top form.

"He's a very good horse who will win more

races. It is also very exciting for his trainer, as this is a new venture for

him. We think he should go very well. I think we will stop with the horse for a

little bit after the Prix du Jockey-Club and then return in the autumn in France

or England. He won't be going to America."

A total of 17 colts remain in

Sunday's 1 5/16-mile classic, with Thursday's forfeit and supplementary stage

likely to clear the picture, but Godolphin and Ballydoyle have already committed

CASAMENTO (Shamardal) and RODERIC O'CONNOR (Galileo [Ire]),

respectively. Also among the home team will be a pair from the Alain de Royer-Dupre

stable in Prix de Pontarme winner

SANDAGIYR (Dr Fong) and the unbeaten RELIABLE MAN

(Dalakhani).

"Reliable Man has been

specially prepared for this race, but we have not decided about Sandagiyr yet,"

de Royer-Dupre said.

The Aga Khan will be represented by the April 10 Prix la Force (Fr-G3) winner BARAAN (Dalakhani) from Jean-Claude Rouget's barn after his Racing Manager

Georges Rimaud told the Racing Post, "Baraan is in good form and worked very

well last week. The trainer is very pleased with the colt. He will go into the

Jockey-Club a fresh horse and hopefully that will be an advantage."

Others of

note include May 15 Prix Hocquart (Fr-G2) scorer PRAIRIE STAR (Peintre Celebre) from the Elie Lellouche stable, Godolphin France's April

24 Prix Noailles (Fr-G2) winner GRAND VENT (Shirocco [Ger]) and May 7 Derby Italiano

(Ity-G2) hero CRACKERJACK KING (Shamardal).

Watering is set to start, with the forecast dry and the going currently good.
