Turfway Holiday Meet starts Sunday
The 19th annual Holiday Meet begins at Turfway Park in
Florence, Kentucky, on Sunday. A total of four $50,000 stakes
have been carded for the 24-day meet and admission and parking
are free.
First post on Wednesday through Friday is set for 5:30 p.m. (ET)
while Saturdays and Sundays will begin at 1:10 p.m. There will be
no live racing on Mondays, Tuesday, Christmas Eve and Christmas
Day. However, the track will offer racing on December 27-31, with
a first post of 1:10 to make up for the Christmas break.
The first 1,500 fans to pass through the gates on December 26
will receive the 2005 Turfway calendar.
On December 5, Turfway will play host to one of the last
qualifying events for the 2005 Daily Racing Form/National
Thoroughbred Racing Association National Handicapping
Championship. The winner will receive $5,000 and a berth in the
tournament at Bally's Las Vegas in January, where players from
across the country will vie for $400,000 in prizes.
