A relentless rally from behind a fast pace allowed Tony Ann to upset a pair of Breeders’ Cup winners in Sunday’s Franklin S. (G2) at Keeneland.

Jockey Irad Ortiz Jr. captured both of Saturday’s turf stakes at Keeneland aboard favorites. In Italian controlled the Jenny Wiley (G1), and Twilight Gleaming revealed a new tactical dimension in the Giant’s Causeway S.

City Man outperformed his odds to score a graded breakthrough in the Forbidden Apple (G3). Morning-line favorite Twilight Gleaming was scratched from the Coronation Cup, opening the door for debut winner Empress Tigress.

Six months to the day after Slipstream went last-to-first in the Futurity (G3) at Belmont Park, the Christophe Clement trainee parlayed a similar inside trip to beat 9-10 favorite Twilight Gleaming in Sunday’s $188,788 Palisades S. at Keeneland.

Keeneland’s Sunday feature, the Beaumont (G3), serves as the final points opportunity on the Road to the Kentucky Oaks. The supporting Palisades S. is the comeback spot for Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint heroine Twilight Gleaming.

Love was in the air on Day 2 at Royal Ascot. Or—more specifically—the filly Love was in the air, flying to the finish line in the Prince of Wales’s S. (G1).

Day two of Royal Ascot has just the one Group 1 contest, but it’s a dandy. Wednesday’s Prince of Wales’s S. (G1), offering a free berth in the Breeders’ Cup Turf (G1), could pit champion filly Love against defending champion Lord North.
