Last updated: 8/20/13 6:51 PM

A trio of gray colts from the Summerfield (Francis & Barbara Vanlangendonck),

agent, consignment, led by sons of Concord Point and Scat Daddy that each

brought $250,000, were the top offerings at Tuesday's opening session of the

Ocala Breeders' Sales Company's August Yearling Sale.

Hip No. 75, from the first crop of Grade 2 winner Concord Point, was gaveled

down to Nick de Meric, agent. A May 3 Kentucky-bred, the colt is the first foal

out of the winning Better Than Swiss (Tomorrows Cat), a half-sister to Grade

3-placed stakes winner Lyin' Heart (Lion Heart). This is the extended family of

multiple Grade 2 winner Punch Line (Two Punch).

The second colt to bring $250,000 was Hip 113, a son of Scat Daddy. EQB,

Inc., agent for Zayat Stables, purchased the March 18 yearling.

The Florida-bred was produced by the unraced Great Venue (Unbridled's Song),

whose half-siblings include multiple Grade 2 winner Too Much Bling (Rubiano),

and noted Ohio-bred stakes performers Barnsy (Langfuhr), Ready for Roses (More

Than Ready) and Littlebitabling (Carson City). The blue hen of this Buckeye

family is the stakes-winning Rose Colored Lady (Formal Dinner).

This female family has yielded the likes of French champion Baiser Vole

(Foolish Pleasure) and German highweight Mister Slippers (Miswaki).

Summerfield also consigned a gray son of Unbridled's Song, which brought

$220,000 from Passion Stables. The April 4 Florida-bred toured the ring as Hip

57.

Produced by the unraced Zehoorr (Storm Cat), a half-sister to Canadian Grade

3 winner She's Indy Money (A.P. Indy), the colt counts as his second dam the

Grade 1-winning Nany's Sweep (End Sweep). Also from this clan is Grade 2 winner

Well Monied (Maria's Mon).

At Tuesday's selected session, 137 yearlings sold for $7,543,000, an increase

of 30.5 percent over the corresponding session last year when 137 head brought

$5,782,000. The average jumped 25.7 percent, from $43,803 to $55,058, while the

median rose 28.6 percent, from $35,000 to $45,000.

The sale continues with open sessions on Wednesday and Thursday, beginning at
