Unbridled Energy to Crestwood Farm

Last updated: 9/18/06 7:20 PM

Grade 2 winner UNBRIDLED ENERGY (Unbridled's Song) has been retired and will

enter stud in 2007 at Pope McLean's Crestwood Farm near Lexington, Kentucky.

Campaigned by Douglas Cauthen of WinStar Farm, the four-year-old gray compiled a

record of 8-4-1-0 with $282,862 in earnings.

Last year at three, Unbridled Energy captured the Marine S. (Can-G3) and

finished second in the Northern Dancer Breeders' Cup S. (G3). After being

transferred to horseman Richard Mandella, he scored his biggest career victory

in the January 14 San Fernando Breeders' Cup S. (G2) in what turned out to be

his final start.

Out of three-time stakes victress Ataentsic (Hold Your Peace), Unbridled

Energy is a three-quarter brother to multiple Grade 3-placed No Armistice

(Unbridled). He comes from the family of Grade 2 winner and dual classic-placed

Heart of Joy (Lypheor [GB]), who is herself the dam of multiple Japanese stakes

hero Meiner Love (Seeking the Gold).

"He is an outstanding individual who embodies the power and athleticism of

the Fappiano line," McLean said, "and is from a classic female family tracing to

the great foundation mare Pretty Polly."

WinStar Farm will retain a significant portion of Unbridled Energy and will

support the stallion, who will stand as the property of a syndicate for a fee of

$10,000.
