Darley announced that VALE OF YORK (Ire) (Invincible Spirit) and

ALEXANDROS (Kingmambo) have been retired and will

join their roster of stallions in 2011 on Thursday.

The operation also released the fees for its 23 stallions who will stand in

Europe for the 2011 breeding season.

Vale of York, who scored in the

Stardom S. in his third career start, defeated five previous

Grade 1 winners winners when capturing last year's

Breeders' Cup Juvenile (G1) for Sheikh Mohammed's

Godolphin. Prior to his U.S. debut in the Breeders' Cup, the bay also ran

third in the Royal Lodge S. (Eng-G2) and second in the Gran Criterium (Ity-G1).

He traveled to Dubai to make his sophomore bow in March, finishing fifth in the

Al Bastakiya at Meydan, and will now retire to

Kildangan Stud in Ireland for the forthcoming breeding season. Vale of

York will stand for a fee of €5,000.

Alexandros scored three

black-type victories during his four seasons of racing, taking the Prix de

Cabourg (Fr-G3) and Prix Roland de Chambure as a juvenile and adding the Al

Rashidiya (UAE-G3) this season. Also during his juvenile year, the chestnut was

third in a high-class running of the Prix Morny

(Fr-G1), and Alexandros progressed to be Group

1-placed on several more occasions,

most notably in the 2009 Lockinge S. (Eng-G1) when

defeating Twice Over (GB) (Observatory) and Paco Boy

(Ire) (Desert Style).

Alexandros, who will stand at

Haras du Logis in France for a fee of €4,000,

is from one of Sheikh Mohammed's foundation families, that of the

famously tenacious racemare High Hawk, top sire In the

Wings (Ire) and stallion of the moment, Dubawi.

"We are also pleased to be offering Vale of York and

Alexandros to breeders in 2011," said Sam

Bullard, Darley's director of stallions.

"With Invincible Spirit quickly establishing himself as a

leading sire and Vale of York being his best juvenile son,

we're delighted to be standing him.

"Alexandros is a quality horse by one of the greatest stallions of

our time, and is from the family of our outstanding young sire Dubawi. His own

race record is one of precocity and courage, and we are very confident he can

keep up his family's good name in producing excellent stallions."

Darley's European roster includes the sires of eight 2010 European

Group 1 winners, including Dubawi (£55,000), the

stallion who has made the best start at stud since 1971; Shamardal (€50,000),

the sire of four 2010 Group 1 winners and the Northern

Hemisphere's leading second-crop sire by cumulative earnings;

Iffraaj (€15,000), Europe's leading first season sire of 2010; Cape Cross

(Ire) (€35,000), sire of Group 1-winning

three-year-old colt Behkabad; and King's Best (€15,000), sire

of Derby (Eng-G1) and Arc (Fr-G1) hero

Workforce as well as 2010 Japanese Derby (Jpn-G1)

winner Eishin Flash.

"The Darley stallions have had a tremendous year,"

Bullard said. "Our 2011 roster

offers breeders outstanding quality and great value highlighted by the fact that

we have reduced the fees of all of our unproven stallions by 25 percent."

Kheleyf(£4,000) is the only

stallion changing location in 2011. He will move from Kildangan Stud to Dalham

Hall.
