Velazquez leaves hospital; will head home to New York
Jockey John Velazquez, who was thrown when his mount, Tap Dancing (Pleasant
Tap), fell in a spill during the 7TH race at Keeneland on Friday, was released
from the University of Kentucky Medical Center on Saturday afternoon.
"He checked out of the hospital this afternoon and is scheduled to go home to
New York tomorrow," said Terry Meyocks, national manager of the Jockeys' Guild.
"He is pretty sore, but all X-rays were negative and it is up to him when he
rides again.
"He is going to rest up and hopefully be back riding soon. He will not be
riding tomorrow."
