Last updated: 10/15/13 6:22 PM

A pair of weanling fillies topped the leader board at Tuesday's Consignor

Preferred session of the 2013 Ocala Breeders' Sales Company's Fall Mixed Sale in

Ocala, Florida.

Hip No. 73, a daughter of Kitten's Joy, sold to Machmer Hall for $110,000.

The March 2 Kentucky-bred was offered by Top Line Sales, agent.

Produced by Brickyard Gal (Proud Citizen), a half-sister to this year's King

George S. (Eng-G2) winner Moviesta (Hard Spun), the session topper counts as her

second dam the multiple Grade 1 winner Magical Maiden (Lord Avie). The latter

reared Grade 1 winner miss Houdini (Belong to Me), who in turn produced multiple

Grade 2 winner Papa Clem (Smart Strike).

This family traces back to dual Irish champion filly Linaria (Turkhan).

Jumping Jack Racing went to $75,000 to obtain a Discreet Cat filly consigned

by Kerri Szegi, agent. The February 26 Florida-bred toured the ring as Hip 91.

The filly was produced by De Danann (War Chant), a half-sister to Grade 2

winner Regal Engagement (Cat Thief). The weanling's third dam, Grade 1 winner

Too Chic (Blushing Groom), reared 1991 champion older mare Queena and Grade 1

winner Chic Shirine, both by Mr. Prospector. Too Chic's prominent descendants

include Grade 1 winners Verrazano (More Than Ready), Serra Lake (Seattle Slew)

and Brahms (Danzig).

At the conclusion of trading Tuesday, 116 horses had sold for $2,631,000, an

increase of 51.1. percent over the corresponding session last year when

$1,740,900 was realized from the sale of 123 head. The average and median were

also up substantially, the average rising 60.2 percent from $14,154 to $22,681,
