Whole Emblem brings $130,000

WHOLE EMBLEM (Our Emblem), a three-year-old broodmare prospect, sold for the

top price of $130,000 at Thursday's session of the Keeneland November Breeding

Stock Sale in Lexington, Kentucky. Big D Stables purchased the dark bay from the

consignment of Taylor Made Sales Agency, agent.

Cataloged as Hip No. 3817, Whole Emblem is a half-sister to multiple Grade 2

winner and $997,647-earner Top Secret (Afleet), stakes winners Tate (Afleet) and

West's Secret (West by West), and stakes-placed Secret Forest (Forestry). She is

also a half-sister to Bigger Half (Megaturn), the dam of Grade 3 winner

Megascape (Cape Canaveral) and stakes winner Richest Half (Rizzi), and Uppity

(Colony Light), the dam of stakes winner Two Sixty Four (Dance Brightly).

Whole Emblem won one of four starts and earned $26,525.

A colt by Painting Freedom was the highest-priced weanling, bringing $80,000

from Paul and Berva Megson. Named ARCTIC BRIGHT, the youngster has the unusual

distinction of being registered as a white Thoroughbred. Consigned by Rosemont

Farm, agent for Painted Desert Farm, the colt is the first foal out Mesa Queen

(Reign Road), a half-sister to stakes-placed Hill Top Man (Ordway). He is from

the same female family as champion and Kentucky Derby (G1) winner Foolish

Pleasure (What a Pleasure).

The white weanling was cataloged as Hip 3840.

On Thursday, 259 horses sold for $4,622,200, an increase of 20.9

percent compared to the same session last year when 226 horses brought

$3,824,500. The average price rose 5.5 percent, from $16,923 to $17,846, while

the median price jumped 40 percent, from $10,000 to $14,000.

Through 11 sessions, 2,666 horses have changed hands for $332,692,100, an

increase of 7.8 percent compared to 2006 when 2,635 horses realized

$308,580,000. The average price is up 6.6 percent, from $117,108 to $124,791,

while the median price of $50,000 remained unchanged.
