WINNING WITH WORKOUTS

FEBRUARY 3, 2005

In this regular weekly feature, Handicapper's Report will present examples of

how to use workouts in your handicapping using actual results with horses

featured in our reports. To access the HR reports and to see highlights of

Today's Topic: Occasionally a clocker will suggest a horse is pointing for

a particular race

A knowledgeable clocker will not only judge the quality of a particular

workout, at times he may point out the type of race in which a horse should be

entered. Sometimes he may suggest a horse would be effective at a low claiming

level based on a workout or other times he may suggest a horse can move up

significantly. He may also imply that a horse will outperform his odds in a

particular race.

On Saturday, January 29, in the Sunshine Millions at Gulfstream Park, Fit

and Ready horse MUSIQUE TOUJOURS (Musique d'Enfer) shipped to Gulfstream Park for the Sunshine

Millions Classic, quite a step up in class. He won and paid $142.20 with the

following works:

MUSIQUE TOUJOURS--SA 01/15/05 B+ FT 127.3H

This one is preparing to go

to the Sunshine Millions and went the opening 1/8 in 12.3. Finished up

in 127.3, getting the final 1/8 in 12.2 under light coaxing. A good

finish for the distance. Definitely should be one to follow on that big

day.

MUSIQUE TOUJOURS--SA 12/13/04 A- FT 59.0H

Finished strongly today to

go the final ¼ in 24.1 and a final time of 59.1. Was only lightly asked

to do it. A sharp drill this morning.
