Martin Racing Stable and Dan Morgan's DUBAI MAJESTY (Essence of Dubai)
closely tracked the pace to the conclusion of the far turn and then quickly put
away her rivals as she entered the stretch, rolling home to an easy 2 1/4-length
victory in Friday's $909,000
Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Sprint (G1). The Bret Calhoun-trained became
racing's newest millionaire as she captured her first third stakes win at
Churchill Downs, vaulting her earnings to $1,509,243 from a 34-12-7-6 line.
Supplemented to the race at a cost of $90,000, the five-year-old mare
completed seven furlongs over the fast track in 1:22 1/5 with Jamie Theriot.
"She loves this racetrack," Calhoun said. "She made a great move and Jamie
(jockey Theriot) rode a great race. She was making an easy move and then she got
into gear and I got really excited. Jamie did a great job of getting her settled
back, and then she dragged him up there.
"I've gotten pretty excited before and
then she's gotten beat, but this time she got there. She did great. She's
trained extremely good. We all decided to supplement (her to the race)
together."
Theriot recorded his first Breeders' Cup win in his fourth attempt.

"This is a big first for me after 13 years of riding, working seven days a
week," Theriot explained. "She broke like a shot and put me in a perfect
stalking position. The speed cleared me and I was going just great. She was well
within herself. On the turn, she took a deep breath and grabbed me and took me
to the lead. When we made the quarter pole, I said 'That's it. I ain't gonna get
beat today.'"

Off as the 8-1 seventh choice among 13 runners, Dubai Majesty rewarded her
backers with payouts of $19.20, $9.20 and $6. Switch (Quiet American) split
horses in the stretch and finished well to be a clear second, three lengths
better than Evening Jewel (Northern Afleet), and returned $8.80 and $5.80 at
nearly 8-1. Evening Jewel, who was also off at 8-1, yielded $5.60 for the show.
Champagne d'Oro (Medaglia d'Oro), the lukewarm favorite at nearly 9-2, came next
in fourth and was followed under the wire by Sweet August Moon (Malibu Moon),
Sara Louise (Malibu Moon), Informed Decision (Monarchos), Rinterval (Ire)
(Desert Prince [Ire]), Jessica is Back (Put It Back), Gabby's Golden Gal
(Medaglia d'Oro), Secret Gypsy (Sea of Secrets), Moontune Missy (Forest Wildcat)
and My Jen (Fusaichi Pegasus). Rightly So (Read the Footnotes), the 3-1 favorite
on the morning-line, was scratched Friday morning by the Breeders' Cup
Veterinary Panel, and also-eligibles Tidal Pool (Yankee Gentleman) and First
Passage (Giant's Causeway) didn't draw into the field.
Winner of the Thoroughbred Club of America S. (G2) in her previous outing,
Dubai Majesty is now a six-time stakes winner. She captured the Incredible
Revenge S. and defended her title in the Winning Colors S. (G3) earlier this
season and also netted the Franklin County S. last year. A stakes queen over
dirt, turf and synthetic, the versatile mare has also placed six black-type
events, including three Grade 1 races.

Bred by Harold J. Plumley in Florida, Dubai Majesty RNA'd for a mere $7,000
as a Fasig-Tipton Kentucky October yearling. She of the winning Great Majesty
(Great Above) and is a half-sister to multiple stakes victor Majestic Dinner
(Formal Dinner) and an unnamed yearling colt by Trippi.
