Fresh Start Stable's J J'S LUCKY TRAIN (Silver Train) is starting to develop a reputation as a "cardiac kid," a horse proficient winning in tight finishes. The 2-1 favorite for Saturday's $200,000 Bay Shore S. (G3) at Aqueduct, the three-year-old saved his best for the very end of the seven-furlong contest as he nipped Vengeful Wildcat (Vindication) by a long neck under Jose Ferrer in a time of 1:22 2/5 over the fast main track. His supporters were rewarded with $6, $3.20 and $2.60.

Content to travel between rivals in fifth down the backside, J J's Lucky Train moved outside for running room around the far turn as the pack chased Smoke It Right (Smoke Glacken), who had ripped the first quarter in :22 3/5. However, the Arkansas invader came under pressure from Vengeful Wildcat approaching the quarter pole, and it was that rival who had his head in front after the half-mile was reached in :46. In the stretch, Vengeful Wildcat opened up a length, but with long strides J J's Lucky Train ultimately wore down that foe, who also started at 2-1.

Justin Philip (First Samurai), the 5-1 third choice in a field of seven, finished 1 1/2 lengths behind Vengeful Wildcat in third and had the same margin on the dead-heating pair of Buffum (Bernardini) and Royal Currier (Red Bullet), who broke through the gate right before the start and was re-loaded. Harlan's Hello (Harlan's Holiday) and Smoke It Right completed the order of finish. Dr Disco (Disco Rico) was scratched.

"Down the backside I was in cardiac arrest with all that trouble from the start," trainer William Anderson said. "It looked like he was hanging a little in midstretch, and I didn't think we'd get there. We know he always tries. I think at seven-eighths to a mile it'd take a heck of a horse to outrun him, and that's where we'll probably stay with him."

J J's Lucky Train suffered his only loss in four starts at two when sixth in the Sapling S. (G3) in his only stakes appearance. He's fared much better at the top level this season, kicking of 2011 with second-place efforts in the Count Fleet S. and Whirlaway S. Reverting to one turn in the February 26 Miracle Wood S. at Laurel last time, J J's Lucky Train rallied from second to take the seven-furlong feature by a neck. With this second stakes triumph to his credit, J J's Lucky Train has now bankrolled $257,000 from a line of 8-5-2-0.

Bred in Kentucky by EICO Stable, J J's Lucky Train was a $35,000 Fasig-Tipton Midlantic two-year-old in training purchase. Produced by the Grade 3-placed stakes winner Delta Sensation (Thunder Gulch), J J's Lucky Train is a half-brother to a juvenile filly by Dixie Union and a yearling colt named Rudy and Recon (Stormy Atlantic). This female family has produced Grade 2 winners Bold Summit (National Zenith) and Mach Ride (Pentelicus), as well as Grade 3 winner Whimsy (Maria's Mon).
