Quite a Bride enjoys quite a ride Haras Santa Maria de Araras' homebred QUITE A BRIDE (Stormy Atlantic) fulfilled expectations on Independence Day when drawing off to a 3 1/4-length victory in Tuesday's $150,000 Boiling Springs S. (G3) at Monmouth Park. Sent to the early lead by jockey Cornelio Velasquez, the 3-2 favorite rattled off splits of :24 4/5, :48 4/5 and 1:12 3/5 with Stolen Prayer (Songandaprayer) in tow. Her rival weakened in the lane, however, making room for Ebony Rose (Bernstein), who has been racing in third, to take over second. Quite a Bride was able to draw off through the stretch, completing 1 1/16 miles on the firm turf in 1:41 1/5. The three-year-old filly returned $5.40, $4.40 and $2.80. Ebony Rose finished second by a nose, paying $7.80 and $3.80 at 6-1, while Perilous Pursuit (Lemon Drop Kid) gave back $3.20 at 3-1 for the show. Exotics returned $32 ($2 exacta) and $30.50 ($1 trifecta). For Kisses (Not for Love) completed the 3-1-4-6 ($1) superfecta, which returned $268. Stadore (Fr) (Kendor), Stolen Prayer, Robyns Anthem (Royal Anthem) and No Reason (Precise End) rounded out the order of finish. Mama Nadine (A.P. Indy) and Somethingaboutbetty (Forestry) scratched from the race. Bred in Florida, the Bill Mott-trained chestnut is out of the Blushing Groom (Fr) mare Wise Bride, who produced stakes winner and Grade 3-placed Goulash (Mari's Book), the dam of multiple champion Ashado (Saint Ballado), Peter Pan S. (G2) hero Sunriver (Saint Ballado) and stakes winner Saint Stephen (Saint Ballado). Wise Bride's latest progeny is a yearling colt by Montbrook. Quite a Bride captured the Trenton S. by 2 3/4-lengths in her last appearance, and she improved her overall record to 6-4-0-0 on Tuesday, more than doubling her earnings to $167,240.
