In Control in Cicada Harry Nye and Thomas McClay's CONTROL SYSTEM (Lion Hearted) remained unbeaten while easily proving victorious in the $109,600 Cicada S. (G3) over Aqueduct's fast inner track on Saturday. Breaking a step slow from post 1, Control System raced close to the pace along the inside with jockey Julian Pimentel while Golden Dreamer (Malabar Gold) set early fractions of :22 3/5 and :45 2/5. Advancing outside on the far turn, the Michael Trombetta pupil drew clear of her nearest rival in midstretch and continued her drive to win by 3 1/2 lengths in a final time of 1:10 2/5 for the six-furlong affair. "Once she was clear, she just took off," Pimentel said. "To this point, she has done everything so easy. I don't really know how good she is." The bay lass broke her maiden by 11 1/2 lengths and captured an allowance event by 9 1/4 lengths in her prior two outings, both at Philadelphia Park. She continued to ascend the ranks while making her stakes debut on Saturday, improving to three-for-three and boosting her earnings to $113,640. "I've been impressed with her now for quite some time," Trombetta said. "Everything is happening kind of quick with her. My chore now is to sit down tomorrow and find the next spot for her. We may come back in the Comely (S. [G2] on April 14 at Aqueduct)." As the 2-1 favorite, Control System returned $6.50, $4.50 and $2.80 and spearheaded the $24.60 exacta and $78 trifecta. Holding on for second as the near 3-1 second choice, Golden Dreamer gave back $3.80 and $2.70 after finishing one length clear of Special Dream (Officer), who was worth $2.90 at 5-1. Rounding out the order were Becky's Flute (Parade Ground), Hungarian Boatbaby (Silver Ghost), Five Star Daydream (Five Star Day) and Glacken's Mark (Smoke Glacken). Bred by Horse Shoe Valley Equine in Pennsylvania, Control System is the first foal out of the Grindstone mare Risk Aversion. She counts herself as half-sister to an unnamed yearling colt by Lite the Fuse.
