Silent Pleasure shows resolve in Texas Mile S & S Stables LLC's SILENT PLEASURE (Real Quiet) was confronted by 4-5 choice Bob and John (Seeking the Gold) at the head of the stretch and outdueled that one to the wire in taking the $300,000 Texas Mile S. (G3) by a neck at Lone Star Park on Saturday. Trained by Howard Scarberry, the four-year-old colt was prominent from the outset, leading the field through pressured splits of :23, :45 3/5 and 1:10 1/5 for the opening six panels. At the top of the lane, the winner was headed but fought back valiantly, completing the one-mile fast track feature in 1:35 1/5. The 9-5 second choice paid $5.80, $2.60 and $2.20 under Tracy Hebert. Bob and John looked like a winner in the lane but couldn't match the tenacity of the top one in the final furlong, settling for the place to pay $2.40 and $2.20 while completing the $12.60 exacta. Dreamsandvisions (Kipling) was eight lengths back in third, returning $3.60 and finishing off the $51.40 trifecta at 17-1. Wait in Line (Line in the Sand) was another 4 1/2 lengths back to sit on the bottom of the $124 superfecta (3-5-2-4). Stockholder (Bertrando) was next and trailed by Ramachi Six (Wild Zone). Silent Pleasure reeled off his fourth consecutive stakes win, following tallies in the Fifth Season S., Gulf Coast Classic S. and Delta Mile S., in boosting his bankroll to $396,555. The dark bay also boasts a placing in the Lookout S., and sports a 15-6-1-2 lifetime mark. The winner was bred in the Bluegrass State by John Franks, and attracted a bid of $2,700 at the 2004 Fasig-Tipton Kentucky October sale. Produced from the stakes-placed Wholelotapleasure (Vice Regent), the winner has an unnamed two-year-old half-brother by Kissin Kris.
