Silver Charades is along in time in All Along

Live Oak Plantation's homebred SILVER CHARADES (Broad Brush) kicked into high gear through the stretch to take Saturday's $197,000 All Along Breeders' Cup S. (G3) at Colonial Downs. Settled well off the pace by Jose Valdivia Jr., the Marty Wolfson mare rallied strongly to finish 1 1/2 lengths clear, getting nine furlongs in 1:49 3/5 on the firm turf. The five-year-old bay's first career stakes triumph provided mutuels of $16.40, $8.80 and $5.80 at odds of 7-1.

With the pace factors folding in the lane, the minor awards also went to closers. The 25-1 Humoristic (Sefapiano) snared runner-up honors, paying $26 and $10 and rounding out the $356.60 exacta. Checking in another half-length back in third was Bridge Game (Giant's Causeway), who gave back $6.80 at 10-1 and concluded the $4,608.40 trifecta. The 42-1 Omeya (Chi) (Milt's Overture) came from dead last in the 11-horse field to grab fourth, resulting in the 9-3-2-8 superfecta worth $34,138. Next came 8-5 favorite Ballet Pacifica (Minardi), May Night (Gulch), Cozy Gain (Cozzene) and the four who were closest to the pace. Early leader Dancingupastorm (Storm Boot), who clocked fractions of :24 3/5, :49 2/5 and 1:12 3/5, reported home in eighth, followed by stalkers Miss Belga Bound (Boundary), Grigorieva (Ire) (Woodman) and Dancing Sky (Ire) (Polish Precedent). Masseuse (Dynaformer), the 5-2 favorite on the morning line, was withdrawn.

Silver Charades is now two-for-two since taking up residence with Wolfson, having captured an allowance/optional claiming event at Calder in her debut for her new trainer. Her best previous stakes finishes were a pair of placed efforts in the 2005 editions of the Auntie Mame S. and Charlie Barley S. Silver Charades' scoreline now stands at 13-4-4-1, and her $120,000 payday nearly doubled her bankroll to $244,970.

Bred in Kentucky, Silver Charades was produced by multiple stakes winner and Grade 1-placed Don't Read My Lips (Turkoman). She is a half-sister to a pair of current stakes performers, multiple Grade 3 hero Hotstufanthensome (Awesome Again) and four-time stakes victor Tacit Agreement (Unbridled), as well as an unraced juvenile colt named Assistant K J (Eltish) and a yearling filly named Red Sprite (Thunder Gulch).
