Dream rushes to Prioress victory

West Point Thoroughbreds et al's DREAM RUSH (Wild Rush) asserted herself after the opening quarter-mile and drew clear to a comprehensive 2 1/4-length score in the $240,000 Prioress S. (G1) at Belmont on Saturday. Trained by Richard Violette, the speedy sophomore lass broke well and tracked in second in the opening furlong before taking command under Eibar Coa, reaching two furlongs in :22, the half-mile in :44 3/5 and five-eighths in :56 2/5, prior to stopping the teletimer in 1:09 for six panels. Sent off as the 3-5 favorite, the winner returned $3.30, $2.50 and $2.10.

Graeme Six (Graeme Hall) was outrun early but rallied with excellent energy in the middle of the track to earn the place at 21-1, worth $10 and $5 while completing the $34.80 exacta in her stakes debut. Silver Knockers (Silver Deputy) was another 1 3/4 lengths back in third at 5-1. The third choice paid $3.30 and finished off the $114.50 trifecta. Ticket to Seattle (Capote) led early but couldn't keep pace with the winner, falling just a head shy of a black-type placing at 41-1. The filly capped the $799 superfecta (9-6-1-8). Cash's Girl (Northern Afleet) was another neck back and trailed by Appealing Zophie (Successful Appeal), Half Time Crown (Gilded Time), Magical Ride (Storm Cat) and 7-2 second choice Her Majesty (Giant's Causeway).

Dream Rush upped her mark to 7-5-2-0 with earnings that now stand at $449,739. The miss captured the Nassau County Breeders' Cup S. (G2) and Old Hat S. (G3), prior to a runner-up effort in the Acorn S. (G1) most recently.

Bred in Kentucky by James Petrey Jr., Dream Rush sold for $285,000 at last year's OBS February two-year-old sale and hails from the unraced Unbridled mare Turbo Dream, who is also the dam of the stakes-placed filly Neeranjanie (Gentlemen [Arg]), an unnamed yearling filly by Salt Lake and an unnamed 2007 colt by Orientate.
