Bridge Game rolls late in Modesty Elisabeth Alexander's BRIDGE GAME (Giant's Causeway) found her best stride in the final furlong and blew past her rivals late under Jeremy Rose to capture the $150,000 Modesty H. (G3) by 1 1/2 lengths over the good Arlington turf on Saturday. Conditioned by Graham Motion, the dark bay settled in midpack early, was asked by Rose approaching the final turn, and found her best stride when switching leads in the straight, completing the 1 3/16 miles in 1:54 3/5. The nearly 8-1 shot paid $17.40, $8 and $4.60 while keying the $102.20 exacta, $980 trifecta and $4,659.20 superfecta (4-2-8-1). Jennie R. (Awesome Again) led from the start, opened a four-length advantage after the opening four panels, was two clear in the lane and was passed only by the winner, retaining the place spot by three-quarters of a length. The 9-2 shot paid $6 and $5.40. Rich in Spirit (Repriced) closed from well back to earn third honors at nearly 11-1. Show was worth $7.60. Almonsoon (Giant's Causeway), the 3-1 choice, was a half-length back at 3-1 and was trailed by Mabadi (Sahm), Brownie Points (Forest Wildcat), Sohgol (Ire) (Singspiel) and defending champion Chic Dancer (Joyeux Danseur). Bridge Game earned her initial stakes win in this one, with previous black-type placings coming in the All Along Breeders' Cup S. (G3) and Marie G. Krantz Memorial H. The lass now boasts $234,555 from a 10-5-2-1 line. The winner was bred in Kentucky by Margaret Nigrelle and purchased for $32,000 at the 2004 Keeneland January sale. The four-year-old is out of Baba Light (Majestic Light) and has a yearling half-brother named Waltz Across Texas (Gold Regent). Bridge Game hails from the same female line as two-time Breeders' Cup Classic (G1) hero Tiznow (Cee's Tizzy).
