Dreaming of Anna dominates Pucker Up Frank Calabrese's homebred champion DREAMING OF ANNA (Rahy) blasted out of the gate from post nine, quickly angled over to the rail, and never looked back as she imposed her authority in Saturday's $200,000 Pucker Up S. (G3) at Arlington Park. After setting fractions of :23 1/5, :47 1/5, 1:12 and 1:36 1/5 beneath E.T. Baird, the Wayne Catalano trainee spurted 4 1/4 lengths clear in a final time of 1:48 1/5 for 1 1/8 miles on the good turf course. The 6-5 favorite furnished mutuels of $4.60, $3 and $2.60 while spearheading exotics worth $37 (exacta), $340.20 (trifecta) and $3,427.60 (10-9-7-6 superfecta). German shipper Touch My Soul (Fr) (Tiger Hill) closed resolutely along the inside to prevail by a nose in a four-way photo for runner-up honors, giving back $7.60 and $6.40 at 9-1. Bel Air Beauty (Smart Strike) snared third by finishing a nose in front of 31-1 longshot Lemonlime (Lemon Drop Kid). The nearly 14-1 outsider returned $7.80 to show. French invader Testama (Fr) (Testa Rossa) was just another head back in fifth, trailed by You Go West Girl (Mr. Greeley), Pitamakan (Danzig), Ciao (Lear Fan), Ric Rac (Service Stripe), Luna Dorada (Seeking the Gold), Katerbug (Pulpit) and Our Dancing Babe (Belong to Me). West Coast Swing (Gone West) was withdrawn. Dreaming of Anna has now amassed $1,558,172 from her 10-7-1-1 line. Unbeaten from four starts at two, the chestnut garnered the Eclipse Award in near unanimous fashion. After scorching 5 1/2 furlongs in 1:01 3/5 in the Tippett S., she thrashed males in the Summer S. (Can-G3) at Woodbine and wired the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1) by 1 1/2 lengths. Her sophomore campaign got off to a less than stellar start. She finished a distant third in the Old Hat S. (G3), second in the Gaily Gaily S. and sixth in the Kentucky Oaks (G1). To get back on the winning track, Dreaming of Anna sought class relief in the grassy Double Delta S. at Arlington and drove to a 1 1/4-length victory. That served as the perfect prep for her front-running tally in the Virginia Oaks last time out. Out of the multiple stakes-winning Broad Brush mare Justenuffheart, the Kentucky-bred is a full sister to Lewis Michael, who also made headlines at Arlington this summer with a 4 3/4-length demolition job in the Washington Park H. (G2). She has a pair of younger half-siblings, an unraced two-year-old colt named Justenuffhumor (Distorted Humor) and an unnamed yearling filly by Unbridled's Song. Justenuffheart is herself a half-sister to 2004 champion turf horse Kitten's Joy (El Prado [Ire]) and John C. Mabee H. (G1) queen Precious Kitten (Catienus), who became a millionaire by capturing the Palomar H. (G2) last Saturday.
