Evita Argentina back in against fillies in Beaumont

Halo Farms' homebred EVITA ARGENTINA (Candy Ride [Arg]) stepped up to face males in the San Vicente S. (G2) last time and delivered a one-length decision as the near 5-2 favorite. On Wednesday, she will return to her same gender set when she squares off against six three-year-old filly rivals in the $150,000 Beaumont S. (G2). The John Sadler-trained lass will break from the rail with Garrett Gomez in the about seven-furlong event over Keeneland's Beard Course.

Evita Argentina should have no difficulty making the transition to Keeneland's Polytrack, winning the Sorrento S. (G3) last August over the Polytrack at Del Mar, and a good showing could earn her a berth in the 135th running of the Kentucky Oaks (G1) on May 1. The late-running chestnut won't face any graded winners on Wednesday.

SELVA (Forest Wildcat) is a three-time stakes victress, garnering the grassy Mardi Gras S. most recently on Fat Tuesday (February 24) at Fair Grounds. The David Carroll-trained lass recorded a two-length tally in the Glorious Song S. over Woodbine's Polytrack last season, and she'll keep Robby Albarado in the irons for the Beaumont. WAR KILL (War Chant) will bring a two-race winning streak into her stakes bow. The Kenny McPeek pupil broke her maiden over the Polytrack at Turfway Park and exits a game allowance score on the main track at Gulfstream.

Other runners include Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1) fourth-placer DAVE'S REVENGE (The Cliff's Edge), who ships east for trainer Bob Hess Jr., and the Shug McGaughey-trained CONSEQUENCE (El Prado [Ire]), who finished a close fourth in the Miss Grillo S. (G3) last year.
